BEING FOUND IN CHRIST

SETTING: In waking life, I had been praying into the truths of Philippians 3:8-11, of how I am one with Christ and am supposed to be found inside Him. I also had been struggling with how much time to spend with the Lord each day when there were other pressing needs and ministry responsibilities clamoring for my attention. In this place, I had the following dream.

DREAM: I was invited into a fellowship hall, where I knew Jesus was. There was a craft project ready for each of us to complete, with all the pieces laid out and detailed instructions given.

Instead of staying there, I went back out into the hallway and tried to tape up signs directing others into the fellowship hall, though this was difficult. Also, I ended up judging people in the hallway who were not going the direction I was telling them to go!

In the end, a woman came out wearing a vest/sweater/jacket thing—the new (craft) creation that she had sewn together in that place of fellowship. It would have fit me perfectly! It matched the pants I was wearing, and I loved it. It made me really wish I had stayed in the fellowship hall, where I was supposed to be.

ACTION: Rushed busyness

FEELING: Worry and judgment

INTERPRETATION: “If the devil can’t make us bad, he will make us busy.” I am worried about “signs” and wonders, helping people and directing them to the Lord, while ignoring my own time with Him in the “fellowship” hall. I am too busy to spend time around that table of communion and intimacy and instead am rushing around, trying to assist others. Really, though, because I have neglected my own quiet time with Jesus I wind up being critical of the very people I am trying to bless.

The symbol of craft instructions speaks to me of Holy Spirit. He is my Teacher who instructs me and leads me into all truth.

The sweater/vest/jacket thing is my favorite symbol in the dream. I kept pondering what in the world it could signify until Holy Spirit finally gave me the revelation: it’s not a what; it’s a who. I realized what happens in that fellowship hall/place of intimacy with Jesus: I wear Him! I am literally found in Him and inside of Him, just like a sweater, vest, or jacket.

This may seem like a strange way to picture being found in Christ, but I realized it is actually quite scriptural. The Bible says that we are to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” and “clothe ourselves with Christ” (Rom. 13:14; see Gal. 3:27). So the simple outfit symbol in my dream was, in fact, a very accurate way to represent a deep and hard-to-understand spiritual truth.

As soon as I received the awesome revelation, I noticed how fabulous Jesus would look on me. He coordinates well with the rest of my ensemble and is my favorite color. He is a perfect match for me in every way. This dream was a great
